Polly’s last outing was the Helvellyn Triathlon held on 2nd September 2012; her prize, twelve stiches in her right knee having fallen heavily in the last 2 miles, of the final event, a run up and down Helvellyn, at 3,117 ft above sea level, it is the third highest peak in both the Lake District and England.

Needing to rest, Polly’s next run was a 20 mile outing at the 14th Annual Hope Moors & Tors Challenge. A 20 mile challenging run in the Peak Park, starting & finishing at Hope Sports Club, Hope, North Derbyshire. The classic 20 mile route visits Mam Tor, Kinder Scout and Lose Hill, with climbs totalling 3691 ft. A tough assignment.

Polly was very competitive from the gun and won the ladies race, beating all but fourteen of the men in a field of over one hundred and fifty seasoned runners. Polly’s enforced layoff was a blessing, and she has come back even stronger.
