Matlock Under 19’s Football Team is a Development Squad run by Mick Bulheller, Nigel Evans and Andy Baker, with assistance from Jimmy Ricketts. Their vision is to nurture and develop local Footballers, so that one day they will play for Matlock Town 1st Team, and or bigger clubs.

Money is important. There is the upkeep of the football pitch, paying the referee and 2 lines men, in addition for providing food for visiting football teams and officials at each home game. Then there are Cup Games, such as the prestigious  F.A Youth Cup. This is a high quality footballing division.

At training sessions there are at present a minimum of 25 young men from the local community. Their ages range from 15 to 18 years of age. All aware that patience is needed, and that each and everyone is a valued member of the team. Especially as on match days, perhaps only 16 can be on the team sheet.

The divsion proper starts at the end of August. By this time the Goal is to have the Team as Professional as possible, with match day and football training  kits.
